  • Batik is a traditional Malay garment that has prints on each side. The prints are intricate floral motif patterns woven into a tapestry of colours using wax and dye techniques. However, there are several definitions of batik. Wikipedia describes Batik, as a wax-resist dyeing technique used on textile found in several countries of West Africa, India, Middle East like Iran, and in Asia.

The innovation of Blok Batik Pointilisme (BBP) has given a new dimension to batik entrepreneurs in order to preserve the batik heritage in Malaysia. This product is flexible and capable of producing varieties of batik pattern with one batik block compared to conventional methods that require many blocks to produce different types of pattern. The introduction to the use of nails/spikes on the BBP to produce effect of points on fabric has indirectly referred to the basic concept and meaning of batik in the Javanese language; "ba" means active act and "tik" means point.
